The School of Law relies on the strong engineering background of Guangdong University of Technology, highlighting the professional integration of law, management, science and engineering, embodying specialized characteristics of widely application and strong applicability. Our school was built on the Department of Social Science, which was established in 1995. Since the foundation of 23 years, the School of Politics and Law has been adhering to the educational features of “learning to practice and innovation as soul” and has trained thousands of high-quality professionals with social responsibility, sound personality, innovative spirit, practical ability and global vision. The School consists of the Department of Law, the Department of Social Work, and the Department of Public Administration. There are nearly 800 full-time undergraduate students, several kinds of graduate students, and 44 faculty members.

Our school is committed to promoting the level of discipline construction. There are two undergraduate enrollment majors in Law and Social Work, two academic Master's programs in Administrative Management and Community Service Management, and Master of Social Work. Our school has established a number of provincial and above talent training platforms, such as the “National Social Work Professional Training Base” and “Guangdong Social Work Professional Talent Cultivation Base”. It has a number of scientific research institutions, such as the Legal Risk Management Research Center of Guangdong and Taiwan, the Social Governance Innovation Research Center, and the Social Work Research Center. The Experimental Center has more than ten laboratories, including the Moot Court, the Integrated Law Lab, Case Study Room, and Community Work Lab. In 2018, the Law School of Saint Thomas University (Minnesota, U.S.A.) and our school reached a "3+1" joint training LLM master program. Our school also establishes close cooperative relations with some institutions, such as Taiwan Asian University, Hong Kong Youth Outreach and Singapore Thye Hua Kwan and organizes students to visit and exchange at irregular intervals every year.

Our school is committed to building a team of highly qualified teachers，improving the talent mechanism of combining to gather talents and select talents, and gradually forming a talent team with strong teaching ability, high academic level and reasonable structure. There are 34 full-time teachers, including 12 professors, and nearly 60% of teachers with doctoral degrees. Our school also hired Professor Danli Shi, Vice President of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and Professor Maolin Shi, Chairman of the Taiwan Chinese Legal Risk Management Association, as well as a number of well-known scholars and elites as guest professors, which provided strong support for training talents. In the past 4 years, faculty members have won 27 National Social Science Foundation and provincial or ministerial level research projects; 10 high-quality papers have been published in authoritative journals, such as China Legal Science, five of which were reprinted in its entirety by the Book and Newspaper Information Center of Renmin University of China. Five faculty members were hired as consultants of various provincial institutions; the social service organizations established by the faculties have significant benefits and are highly praised by the government and the industry.

Our school focuses on shaping the characteristics of talent cultivation, promoting the quality of personnel training, continuously optimizing the system and environment of fostering character and civic virtue, and comprehensively improving the quality of student training and employment. In 2018, the passing rate of the Legal Professional Qualification Examination of the law students was 54%, ranking highest in Guangdong Province. The graduate admission rate of the social work students reached 25%, ranking the leading level in the whole university. In recent years, the employment rate of graduates has remained above 98%, and graduates have been deeply recognized by the society. A group of outstanding graduates, such as Yanqing Cai, “Forbes China’s Entrepreneurs under 30” and Xiaoyan Zhou, “China’s Most Beautiful Social Worker”, are active in Guangdong’s economic and social development domain. Our school has good academic and strong creative atmosphere. Branding Activities, such as the Moot Court Competition, Social Work Case Analysis Contest, Political and Legal Forum, Mock Hearing, Guangdong and Taiwan Outstanding Youth Study Tour and Guangdong-Hong Kong Youth Public Welfare Activity, providing high-quality platforms to broaden the students’ visions, enhance practical abilities and improve comprehensive qualities. Our students won many national or provincial level awards, such as the bronze medal of China College Students’ Entrepreneurship Competition in 2014， the Grand Prize of the 11th Challenge Cup Guangdong Undergraduate Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Contest. The Youth League Committee of our school won the honorary title of National May 4th Red Flag Youth League Branch and Guangdong May 4th Red Flag Youth League Branch.

With the deepening of the construction of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, especially the major deployments, such as building the Bay Area education and talents highlands, shaping legal business environment, improving social security and social governance cooperation, which bring rare external opportunities and broad development space for our school. Standing on the new starting point of the New Era, the School of Politics and Law is taking the wind and sailing forward, forging ahead, striving to build a first-class talent training system, a first-class academic innovation system, and a first-class social service system, providing strong talent and intellectual support for the development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area.
